Vishay Intertechnology has announced the upgrade of the TSOP2xxx, TSOP4xxx, TSOP57xxx, TSOP6xxx and TSOP77xxx series of infrared (IR) receiver modules with the new generation Cyllene 2 IC. The new IC is designed to ensure long-term supply and shorter lead times, helping designers significantly reduce supply currents over a wider range of supply voltages, while improving reliability against ESD and direct sunlight
The enhanced Vishay Semiconductors receiver can be used for infrared remote control in television sets, set-top boxes (STBS), audio and game consoles, air conditioners and other appliances, as well as industrial automation control, lighting systems and other applications. For the remote control function of these products, the devices enhance various anti-jamming capabilities, such as the infrared radiation of fluorescent lamps and the RF radiation of Wi-Fi antennas on the circuit board.
The enhanced device allows designers to replace the original receiver module in a plug-and-play manner, providing voltage ranging from 2.0V to 5.5V and reducing typical supply current by 50% to 0.35 mA, thereby extending battery life in mobile consumer electronics such as robotic vacuum cleaners. Devices increase reliability, resist ESD up to 12 kV (mannequin), and resist interference from direct sunlight, improving performance for outdoor applications such as garage door light barrier systems.
To simplify the design, the receiver integrates the light detector, preamplifier circuit, and infrared filter in a mono-epoxy molded package (TSOP2xxx and TSOP4xxx), Belobog (TSOP57xxx), Panhead (TSOP6xxx), or Heimdall (TSOP77xxx). The device carrier frequency is 30kHz to 56kHz, and different automatic gain control (AGC) versions can be used for long burst or short burst coding. The receiver meets RoHS and Vishay Green standards, is halogen-free, and has excellent ripple noise resistance.
