Vishay's FRED Pt Gen 5 600V ultra fast rectifier is available in a fully isolated TO-220 FullPAK 2L package. These 12a and 15a devices provide the best reverse recovery performance in their class and are designed to improve the efficiency of IF converters as well as hard and soft switching or resonance designs. These devices reduce reverse recovery charge (Qrr) by 60% and recovery losses by 90% compared to previous generation solutions.
In addition, the rectifier provides a 10% increase in reverse recovery energy (EREC) compared to its closest competitor, a softer back end improves EMI reduction, and provides more stable operation over the entire operating temperature range, improving thermal performance. With the addition of the five-generation 600 V FRED platinum rectifier family, Vishay extends the benefits of high-end Si technology to different circuit topologies, including classic and bridless power factor correction (PFC) front-end configurations.
These devices will act as output and PFC rectifiers for AC/DC and DC/DC power levels for industrial applications including air conditioning, off-board chargers, lighting, hybrid solar inverters and UPS where they will guarantee system reliability and robustness without compromising performance.
The equipment is available in x, h and w speed grades. For CCM and resonance applications, with higher switching frequencies to 100 kHz and low di/dt to 350 kHz, W-type devices provide lower Qrr, while X-type rectifiers provide lower forward voltage. The ROHS-compliant, halogen-free rectifier provides high temperature operation of +175°C and isolation voltage of 2500 V.
