With this feature, the company offers an opportunity for companies that don't have dedicated software and hardware solutions for heart rate monitoring to combine their capabilities with relatively low entry costs. Together, the two companies can provide an overall reference design for heart rate monitoring, including digital and analog front-end components.
Vishay optoelectronic components allowed in fitness watches include VEMD5080X01 PIN photodiode and VLMTG1400 LED. VEMD5080X01 is a unique surface mount device that eliminates optical crosstalk. It is sensitive to visible and infrared light from 350nm to 1100nm and comes in a small package of 7.5mm x 7.5mm x 0.9mm. The peak wavelength of LED in the green spectrum is 525nm, and its typical intensity is 1400 millicandela. It is packaged in 0603 surface mount format and has a height of 0.55mm.
Elfi-Tech provides software and non-optical hardware for fitness watches, including Arm Cortex-M3 microcontrollers, Texas Instruments analog front ends for heart rate monitoring, BLE connectivity, and MEMS-based accelerometers. The output will be transferred to the Android application.
