Vishay - Space-saving ceramic disc capacitors offer increased reliability

Vishay's latest news is an extension of its popular VY1 Compact series AC line rated ceramic wafer safety capacitors with new devices that reduce size and provide higher pulse strengths up to 10kV. The VY1 Compact series has a body diameter as small as 7.5mm and is designed to save space while providing higher reliability for Class X1 (760VAC) and Y1 (500VAC) applications that comply with IEC 60384-14.3 3rd Edition. The VY1 Compact series uses Y5U ceramic dielectrics and is optimized for RFI and AC line filtering applications in power supplies, power and smart meters, white goods, and consumer electronics. These capacitors have a capacitance range of 470pF to 4700pF (with a tolerance of ± 20%) over a temperature range of -40C to + 125C. The device includes a copper-plated ceramic disc and a tin-plated copper-clad steel connection lead with a diameter of 0.6mm. VY1 Compact series capacitors are available with vertical (series) twisted leads or straight leads with a pitch of 10mm or 12.5mm. The device is RoHS certified and halogen-free, and its package is made of flame retardant epoxy resin that meets UL 94 V-0. The VY1Compact series is now available in samples and sample kits.
