Vishay introduces the enhanced T55 series vPolyTan surface mount polymer tantalum molded chip capacitors with eight new ratings in A, B and T (thin B – 1.2mm max) case sizes.
Leveraging Vishay's market-leading packaging technology and the latest investment in polymer tantalum technology, the Vishay Polytech T55 series now offers significantly higher capacitance and lower ESR for computer, telecommunications and industrial applications.
At 2.5V, the capacitor in case B now offers a higher capacitance to 470 µF with an ESR of 25mohm, and a lower ESR of 25mohm with a 330µF capacitor. At 6.3V, A and T case size devices can provide an improved ESR of 70mohm at 100µF, while B case devices have lower ESR at 40sohm and 33sF and 220µF. At 10V, the B case size device has an enhanced ESR of 70mohm at 47µF.
The low ESR of T55 capacitors is due to their polymer cathodes, which have greatly improved performance compared to manganese dioxide devices. In addition, these devices have excellent ripple current ratings up to 2.28A IRMS and low internal resistance for enhanced charging and discharging characteristics. Capacitors are optimized for power management, battery decoupling and energy storage in computers, tablets, smartphones, wireless cards and solid state drives.
The T55 series has compact J, P, A, B, and T case sizes, a wide capacitance range of 3.3µF to 470µF in a rated voltage range of 2.5V to 10V, and a capacitance tolerance of ± 20%. These devices offer ultra-low ESR of 500mohm to 25mohm at + 25C and 100kHz, and operate in the temperature range of -55C to + 105C with voltage derating in excess of + 85C.
The company said that the T55 series capacitors have lead-free (Pb) terminations, are RoHS-compliant and halogen-free.
