Vishay - New optocoupler ideal for system control in automotive applications (VOMA617A-X001T)

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2018-09-04, Vishay Semiconductor Diodes Division
Vishay's first AEC-Q101 qualified phototransistor optocoupler. This newly introduced device, VOMA617A, has a high CTR of 50% to 600% and a low forward current of 5mA. The new device is packaged in a compact SOP-4 package. Compared with the DIP-4 package, the main advantage is that it saves 30% of the PCB area. The series offers a GaAlAs infrared light emitting diode that is optically coupled to a silicon planar phototransistor detector. Coupling devices are designed to transmit signals between two electrically isolated circuits, especially in automotive applications, and have low coupling capacitance. The electrical specifications of the new optocoupler include collector-emitter voltages up to 80V and an isolation voltage rating of 3750VRMS. The creepage and clearance distances of the equipment are ≥5mm. Optocouplers are ideal for system control in automotive applications, including electric and hybrid vehicles. Electric bicycles and electric motorcycles; signal transmission with electrical and noise isolation; battery management systems and on-board chargers; switching power supplies; 48V panel network applications; and industrial applications with high reliability requirements.
