The Vishay VEML6040 RGBW color sensor detects red, green, blue and white light. VEML6040 uses a CMOS process to integrate photodiodes, amplifiers, and analog / digital circuits into a single chip. Typical applications include handheld devices, notebook computers, consumer devices, and various industrial and mechanical systems. With Filtron technology, the device achieves the ambient light spectral sensitivity closest to the human eye's response. When applying the sensor, the brightness and backlight color temperature can be adjusted according to the ambient light source. VEML6040 has excellent temperature compensation ability, which can keep the output stable when the temperature changes. Through the simple command format of the I2C (compatible SMBus) interface protocol, its functions can be easily operated. VEML6040 operates from 2.5V to 3.6V. The company states that it uses a lead-free (Pb) 4-pin OPLGA package, providing the best market-proven reliability.
