Toshiba Introduces Ultra-Low Capacitance TVS Diodes to Protect IoT Devices High-Frequency Antennas from ESD

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2022-07-03, Toshiba Semiconductor and Storage

Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has introduced an ultra-low capacitance transient suppression (TVS) diode for high frequency antennas - "DF2B6M4BSL". This diode protects semiconductors and other electronic components from static electricity and noise, while suppressing signal degradation.

High-frequency antennas used in wireless communications such as Wi-Fi® need to protect their internal electronic components by suppressing higher-order harmonic distortion. The total capacitance of the DF2B6M4BSL is 0.15pF (max), which is the lowest capacitance value that Toshiba currently offers, and is approximately 25% lower than Toshiba's existing product, the DF2B6M4ASL. The new TVS diodes use this ultra-low capacitance to suppress higher-order harmonic distortions that affect antenna reception performance, and to reduce static and noise affecting components.

High frequency antennas sometimes use ESD suppressors, which can be replaced by DF2B6M4BSL. TVS diodes offer higher protection than ESD suppressors and can reduce static voltages.

In addition to helping to enhance the reliability of high-frequency antennas, the DF2B6M4BSL is also suitable for ESD protection of signal lines.
