Renesas electronics today expanded its popular ZMOD4510 OAQ gas sensor platform. The enhanced device is the industry's first fully calibrated miniature digital OAQ sensor solution with selective ozone measurement capabilities that provide visibility into the air quality in the user's immediate environment to provide a personalized experience. The ip67-certified waterproof package and a new AI-based algorithm facilitate ultra-low power selective ozone measurement.
Uwe Guenther, Senior Director, Sensing Solutions, IoT and Infrastructure Business Unit at Renesas said, “Measuring outdoor air quality is actually about location, location, location because air quality varies widely from street to street, even within the same street. "The enhanced ZMOD4510 provides manufacturers with the selective high-precision sensing, ultra-compact size and long battery life required for battery-operated devices such as smartwatches and mobile phones, for customers Provides a convenient and customized instant view of the air quality environment.”
The company's unique software configuration ZMOD platform provides a flexible design for intelligent sensing systems, enabling firmware updates in the field to facilitate new, application-specific capabilities such as selective ozone detection.
The device's ability to quantify selective ozone levels as low as 20ppb concentrations, combined with its low power consumption, small size and excellent flexibility, makes it an excellent solution meter for mobile and wearable devices as well as industrial applications, including wireless security cameras and parking lots.
The IP67 class sensor maintains excellent accuracy and high performance without the need for an expensive waterproof system -- all in a miniature 3mm x 3mm x 0.9mm LGA package. The sensor is fully calibrated in hydrophobic and oil-repellent packaging, allowing customers to apply a conformal coating to their circuitry rather than adding an external film to the module. The new waterproof packaging enables the sensor to operate in harsh diving environments.
The device has been calibrated according to the US EPA Air Quality Index to measure ozone and is extremely resistant to siloxane, thus providing excellent reliability for use in harsh environments.
