PROFINET has designated the Hirose Electric IX industrial connector family as the new standard interface connector for Ethernet applications
The latest PROFINET Wiring and Interconnection technical guide has recently designated ix Industrial plug interfaces as the new standard for Ethernet applications. PROFINET Guide Version 5.0 was released in June 2021, providing an updated standard for proFINET-compliant wiring in industrial environments. Interface is an important part of SPC Ethernet transmission. Using this connector, proFINET-compliant equipment manufacturers can produce smaller, more compact devices, thereby saving valuable installation space in the control cabinet.
Compared to RJ45 solutions, the series can reduce functional space by up to 75% and footprint by two-thirds. The series of I/O connectors support CAT5e (1Gbps) and CAT6A (10Gbps) cabling and provide optimized EMI/ESD shielding design for safe and reliable transmission of up to 10Gbps of data.
The PROFINET guide provides users with a clear general specification for industrial wiring in industrial equipment, systems and factories, and is the leading communication standard based on industrial Ethernet. Ix Industrial is designated as the new key connector in the SPC section. "The rugged IX Industrial series combines high-speed performance and compact design with high reliability and design flexibility. With an innovative design well suited for Daisy chain applications, the space-saving IX series connectors help significantly reduce the size of industrial machine vision modules." Jeremiah Staek, technology marketing specialist at Hirose Electric's industrial division in the US.
The end unit and cable clip are integrated in a continuous metal housing to provide superior EMC performance and prevent the connected portion of the cable assembly from being affected by cable load. The plug is also available in IDC and solder types.
