The PCM56 is a state-of-the-art full monotone digital-to-analog converter designed and specified for digital audio applications. The device uses ultra-stable NiCr thin film resistors to provide monotone, low distortion, and low differential linear error (especially near bipolar zero) over long periods and at full operating temperatures.
The converter is fully independent of the stable, low noise, internal Zener voltage reference; High speed current switch; Resistance trapezoidal network; An operational amplifier with fast settling and low noise output is realized on a single chip. The converter operates with two power supplies ranging from ±5V to ±12V.

The power consumption of ±5V power supplies is usually less than 200mW. If required, external adjustments for MSB errors (differential linear errors of bipolar zeros) are also included to further improve the total harmonic distortion (THD) specification. Few external components are required for operation, and all key specifications are 100% tested.
