OPA172, OPA2172, and OPA4172 are members of Texas Instruments' new 36V, single-supply, low-noise operational amplifier family. These devices can operate from + 4.5V (± 2.25V) to + 36V (± 18V). High-voltage CMOS operational amplifiers are used in conjunction with the OPAx171 and OPAx170 to provide a range of bandwidth, noise, and power options to meet the needs of multiple applications. The OPAx172 is available in a miniature package that provides low offset, drift, and quiescent current. These devices also feature wide bandwidth, fast slew rate, and high output current drive capability. The single, double, and quad versions all have the same specifications for maximum design flexibility. Unlike many op amps specified with only one supply voltage, the OPAx172 series is rated from + 4.5V to + 36V. Input signals beyond the power rail will not cause phase inversion. During normal operation, the input can operate at a voltage of 100mV below the negative voltage rail and within the 2V range of the highest voltage rail. Note that these devices can operate at 100 mV above the top power rail with full rail input, but degrade performance within 2V of the top power line. The company states that the OPAx172 series of operational amplifiers are rated over the temperature range of –40C to + 125C.
