Texas Instruments - Highly-versatile four-switch synchronous buck-boost controller (LM5175)

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2015-06-01
Texas Instruments LM5175 4 switch synchronous buck-boost controller can regulate the output voltage above, below or below the input voltage. The device can operate over a wide input voltage range from 3.5V to 42V to support a variety of applications-such as automotive start-stop systems, backup battery and super capacitor charging, industrial PC power, USB power and LED lighting. The LM5175 uses current mode control in both buck and boost operating modes to achieve excellent load and line regulation. The switching frequency is programmed by an external resistor and can be synchronized with an external clock signal. Features include programmable soft-start and numerous protection functions (cycle-by-cycle current limit, input undervoltage lockout (UVLO), output overvoltage protection (OVP), and thermal shutdown). The device also includes selectable continuous conduction mode (CCM) or discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) operation. Evaluation tools are also provided.
