Teledyne e2v announces the release of its 2-megapixel Optimom, the first in a family of MIPI CSI-2 optical modules. Using Teledyne e2v's proprietary image sensor technology, the Optimom has been carefully designed to ensure minimal effort in the development of vision embedded systems for rapid deployment in robotics, logistics, drones or laboratory equipment.

The Optimom 2M features MIPI CSI-2 protocol and standard FPC connectors to interface with embedded processing boards. Integration is out-of-the-box using a dedicated Development Kit that includes adapter boards for hardware integration and Linux drivers for software integration directly with NVIDIA Jetson or NXP i.MX solutions.

These optical modules share the same compact 25mm square form factor, enabling a single mechanical design and even fit into height-constrained mechanical systems. To meet the needs of different applications, the Optimom 2M can be customized for a variety of scenarios, offering two color options (monochrome or RGB) and three lens options (multifocal, prime or no lens). The supplied lenses are already mounted and focused, eliminating the tedious task of lens selection and assembly.

All Optimom 2M models are powered by Teledyne e2v's proprietary 2-megapixel, low-noise, global shutter image sensor that provides crisp images of fast-moving objects. The multifocal version of the Optimom 2M combines a wide working distance and a wide aperture in one solution by utilizing innovative focus adjustment technology.

Marie-Charlotte Leclerc, Product Marketing Manager at Teledyne e2v, said: “The acceleration of the product life cycle and the increase in vision use cases leave today’s vision system manufacturers no choice but to invest less time and money on new developments while still To focus on their added value. With our core imaging expertise and long experience in custom solutions, Optimom 2M aims to solve this challenge with a ready-to-use imaging solution that can be fine-tuned for any project. "
