TDK has launched the world's first vehicle-scale monolithic triaxial MEMS gyroscope

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2022-11-24, TDK Corporation

TDK announced the expansion of its SmartAutomotive Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) and non ASIL motion sensor product line, and introduced the InvenSense IAM-20380HT monolithic integrated MEMS and ASIC three-axis MotionTracking sensor platform solution for non safety automotive applications, including the IAM-20380 HT three-axis MEMS gyroscope and DK-20380HT development kit.

The IAM-20380HT is a stand-alone gyroscope in an ultra-thin package of 3 mm x 3 mm x 0.75 mm (16-pin LGA) that reliably operates over a wide temperature range and provides reliable and high-precision measurements for a variety of non-safety automotive applications, including but not limited to: Navigation and dead reckoning, vehicle tracking, telematics, door control and vision systems.

Leveraging TDK's market-proven, reliable MEMS sensor manufacturing technology, the IAM-20380HT, like all of the SmartAutomotive series, is a single-chip SoC that eliminates lead bond interconnects between sensing components (MEMS) and processing circuits (ASics). Unrivalled in performance and reliability.

"With the launch of the IAM-20380HT, TDK further expands its SmartAutomotive™ series product line and its leadership in the automotive market," said Alberto Marinoni, Director of Senior product Marketing for TDK Group InvenSense. "Thanks to TDK's expertise in high-performance inertial sensor design and, without exception, RoHS compliance, the IAM-20380HT takes autonomous driving systems to new heights, enhancing the user experience and making the vehicle smarter and more environmentally friendly."

The IAM-20380HT delivers best-in-class low noise performance and leading bias instability to ensure accurate vehicle positioning, a 16-bit on-chip ADC, and industry-leading sensitivity tolerances. It offers up to 4096 bytes of extended FIFO depth and two independent programmable interrupts compared to the previous generation three-axis gyroscope.
