Combining certified security with innovative tamper state detection mechanisms and battery-free sensing to measure changes in environmental conditions such as humidity, liquid fill levels or pressure, the NTAG 22X DNA family of products is released by NXP Semiconductor. This enables product developers to quickly, easily, and sustainably combine safety certification with product condition detection or condition monitoring to help maintain a secure supply chain and product integrity.

By using IC's unique Secure NFC (SUN) Authentication Information feature, physical products can be easily authenticated, enabling manufacturers to cost-effectively combat counterfeiting and supply chain fraud. Electronic tamper-status detection of multifunction devices allows the manufacturer or product user to verify unauthorized opening of the product. Additionally, by measuring capacitive changes in an item's environmental conditions, such as humidity, pressure, or fill level, in a simple label reading, you can also ensure product quality remains intact, or capture digital sensing data for healthcare, retail, or industrial application.

"The new line of security-certified NFC sensing solutions powers a range of consumer, retail and industrial iot applications and further advances digitization," said Philippe Dubois, Vice President and General Manager, Security Edge Identification. "The NTAG 22X DNA chip introduces a new level of state awareness, turning the tag into a simple battery-free sensing device that detects changes in a physical product's first open state or under specific environmental conditions. This helps manufacturers protect product integrity while taking intelligence to a new level to ensure product quality or proper handling."

"We are proud to promote our innovative embedded NFC security solution for corks and screw caps, using NXP's capacitive StatusDetect technology, combined with our patented irreversible mechanical tampering evidence. As a result, we can provide strong anti-counterfeiting and adulteration protection to global spirits consumers without neglecting design, "said Piero Cavigliasso, Group Director of innovative technologies at Guala Group. "Ensuring product safety is a top priority for our customers, especially as it is estimated that 25% of alcohol consumed globally is illegal. This solution enables our customers to combat the dramatic rise in counterfeit products in a reliable and efficient manner."
