ROHM announced the launch of 1608 high-precision blue-green chip LED SMLD12E2N1W and SMLD12E3N1W. These products support Universal Color Design (CUD) in a variety of applications, including industrial equipment warning lights, fire alarm system indicators and public transportation information displays.

There are approximately 200 million people with P-type and D-type color defects in the world who find it difficult to distinguish between red and green, which can lead to inaccurate information transmission-depending on the color combination used. In addition, since color vision varies from person to person, it is challenging to understand how different people perceive a particular color, because other people may not notice this defect, so this may cause inconvenience and problems.

Subsequently, the demand for the realization of CUD has continued to grow, which takes into account different types of color vision to accurately convey information to as many people as possible. The company has successfully produced blue-green chip LEDs with special wavelengths. These products are very suitable for the implementation of CUD in various equipment, and use the vertically integrated production system from the component manufacturing stage, and make full use of the company's strength for comprehensive quality control.

SMLD12E2N1W and SMLD12E3N1W are the first batch of 1608-size LEDs certified by the Japanese NPO Color Universal Design Organization (hereinafter referred to as CUDO), which enables everyone, including those who cannot distinguish color differences.
