Toshiba Electronics Europe has released a ±2.5A output smart gate drive optocoupler capable of controlling igbt and mosfet to reliably shield overcurrent of power devices. The TLP5212 provides a new totem pole output with two n-channel MOSFETs providing compatibility specifications for frequently used applications such as industrial equipment.
Additionally, the new optocouplers include protection features such as active Miller clamp, desaturation detection, UVLO and FAULT outputs, eliminating the need for multiple external circuits. This reduces system failure detection and protection costs, saving space and design effort. And its reliable and powerful infrared LED can work in harsh thermal environment.
In a small SO16L package, the new optocoupler measures just 10.3mm x 10mm x 2.3mm, allowing it to be used where space is tight. Even in this compact package, it offers a minimum creepage distance of 8mm, enabling it to be used in applications requiring high safety isolation and insulation levels (BVs = 5000Vrms).
This device is ideal for a variety of applications including inverters, AC servo drives, photovoltaic inverters and UPS. It is also possible to sink or output up to ±2.5A through the totem pole output. With a propagation delay of only 250ns (max) and a propagation delay skew of ±150ns, it is ideal for high-speed applications. The operating temperature range (Ta) is -40°C to +110°C, ensuring suitability for industrial and renewable energy use.
