Toshiba Electronics Europe Ltd. offers a new high voltage transistor output automotive optical coupler designed for a wide range of applications in automotive equipment such as isolated signal communication in hybrid and pure electric vehicles.

The device offers up to 600% current transfer ratio (IC/IF) and 3750Vrms(minimum) input-to-output isolation voltage. The new TLX9188 can operate at 200V (min), the highest voltage the company has ever produced in an automotive optical coupler, 2.5 times higher than the existing TLX9185A.

It is packaged in a small and thin four-pin SO6 package that measures just 3.7mm x 7mm x 2.1mm and is suitable for modern, dense packaging designs. It can operate in a wide temperature range from -40 ° C to +125 ° C, fully conforming to AEC-Q101 automotive applications.

The device is capable of operating at high voltages, making it ideal for use as a battery management system for HEV/BEV and can be used to monitor voltages, monitor bonding of mechanical relays and detect ground faults.
