Micropower, ultra low power consumption, low noise, 300mA CMOS voltage regulator

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2023-02-16

Low Drop (LDO) CMOS linear regulators are available in 1.8V, 2.5V, 2.77V, 2.82V, 3.0V, 3.3V and adjustable versions. They provide 300mA of output current. Encapsulated in an 8-pin MSOP, LP3982 pin and packaged Maxim compatible MAX8860.

The LM3982 is also available in a small LLP package. The LP3982 is suitable for battery powered applications because of its shutdown mode (typical 1nA), low static current (typical 90μA), and LDO voltage (typical 120mV). The lower voltage drop allows more use of the battery's available energy by reaching the voltage at the end of its life.

Application Circuit

Compared with the PNP LDO voltage regulator, the PMOS output transistor of the LP3982 consumes relatively no drive current. This PMOS regulator has a stable small ceramic capacitive load (2.2μF typ). These devices also include regulation for fault detection, bandgap voltage reference, constant current limitation and thermal overload protection
