Microchip's MTCH6303 projected capacitive touch controller, MTCH6303 provides multi-touch coordinates and multi-finger surface gesture kits for touchpads and screens. The controller allows modern user interface (UI) elements such as pinch and zoom, multi-finger scrolling and swiping to be applied to any embedded design with minimal host requirements.
The controller has advanced signal processing functions, which can provide noise avoidance technology and 10-finger predictive tracking function. The scan rate is up to 250Hz and the five touches are up to 100Hz. Combined with Microchip's MTCH652 high-voltage line driver, this controller achieves excellent signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for outstanding touch performance in noisy environments. The MTCH6303 is designed to be used with a minimum of 3 RX and 3 TX sensor channels and a maximum of 27 RX and 19 TX channels, while a single MTCH652 can support a maximum 8-inch touch screen.
The MTCH6303 controller is available in 64-pin QFN and TQFP packages. When combined with the Microchip MGC3130 3D tracking and gesture controller, it can support 3D gestures up to 20cm. The company said that the controller and related Microchip technology provide a cost-effective and easy-to-integrate touch solution for industrial control, home and office automation, security control panels, thermostats, printers and lighting controls, and other consumer applications.
