Micrel MIC28303 synchronous buck regulator module has a novel adaptive on-time control architecture. The 50V 3A power module integrates a DC-DC controller, power MOSFET, bootstrap diode, bootstrap capacitor and inductor in a single package. These modules have a power supply range of 4.5V to 50V, and the output voltage can be adjusted from 0.9V to 24V (limited by the duty cycle). These modules can provide up to 3A of output current and can be adjusted to 0.8V with a "guaranteed" accuracy of ± 1%. The on-time control architecture allows a constant switching frequency, which can be programmed from 200kHz to 600kHz. The MIC28303-1 module uses Micrel's HyperLight Load architecture to improve efficiency at light loads. The MIC28303-2 module uses Micrel's Hyper Speed Control to achieve ultra-fast transient response. Both modules provide a full set of protection functions, including undervoltage lockout, internal soft-start, foldback current limit, "hit cup" mode short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown. The device has low radiated emissions, good power supply signals, and a junction temperature range of -40C to + 125C, making it ideal for industrial and medical applications.
