Low voltage, programmable resistance, thermostatic switch

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2023-02-20, Analog Devices Inc.

AD22105 is a solid state thermostatic switch. A single externally programmed resistor allows accurate switching at any temperature in a wide operating range from −40°C to +150°C. Using a novel circuit architecture, the AD22105 asserts open-collector output when the ambient temperature exceeds the user-programmed set point temperature.

Application program

• Industrial process control

• Thermal control system

• CPU monitoring

• Computer thermal management circuit

• Fan control

• Handheld/portable electronic devices

Typical Application Circuit

The AD22105 has a lag of approximately 4°C, which prevents rapid thermal switching cycles, and operates at a single supply voltage of 2.7V to 7.0V, facilitating the operation of battery powered applications and industrial control systems. Due to low power consumption (230μW at 3.3V), self-heating error is minimized and battery life is maximized.Optional internal 200 kΩ pull-up resistors are included to facilitate driving light loads such as complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) inputs. Alternatively, low-power light-emitting diode (LED) indicators can be driven directly
