 Littelfuse has introduced a series of 16A SCR switching thyristors for on-board charging (EVOBC) applications for electric vehicles. The S8016xA series SCR switch thyristor can charge level 1 at 120V at a temperature of 100V, and can provide a current of up to 16ARMS; at a temperature of 100 ° C, its level 2 charging can reach up to 16ARMS; at 80 ° C , Can charge up to 25ARMS. The S8016xA series is the first line of SCR switch thyristors that can handle TO-220R and TO-263 packages (also AEC-Q101 certified) and support the high current levels of the production part approval process (PPAP). The typical application of S8016xA series SCR switch thyristors is the rectification of AC voltage input, which is suitable for on-board and off-board chargers of electric vehicles. They have a maximum repeatable offset voltage (VDRM) of 800V and can handle AC power inputs up to 250VRMS. Up to 25A RMS on-current (IT (RMS)) makes them suitable for level 1 and level 2 AC charging applications. With a high peak non-repetitive blocking voltage (VDSM) of 1300V and a non-repetitive peak surge current (IPP) of 2400A, they can withstand a 6kV surge when used with a suitable automotive-grade metal oxide varistor (MOV) Power supply overvoltage protection, such as the Littelfuse AUMOV series. AEC-Q101 qualified and capable of supporting PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), making it ideal for protecting Class 1 AC car chargers. The S8016xA series is available in TO-220R packages (number of 500, 50 per tube), or in TO 263 (D2-Pak) packages of 500, with embossed reel packaging.
