Intersil has launched the TW9992 analog video decoder, which has an integrated MIPI-CSI2 output interface and is compatible with the latest SoC processors. The decoder's MIPI-CSI2 interface can simplify the interface with the SoC, while also reducing the system's EMI characteristics, thereby simplifying the design. The TW9992 decoder obtains single-ended and differential composite video inputs from the vehicle's backup security camera and is the latest product in Intersil's video decoder product line for automotive applications. TW9992 has built-in diagnostic functions and excellent video quality, which can meet the biggest challenges facing automotive video systems. For example, the decoder's automatic contrast adjustment (ACA) image enhancement function overcomes the main challenges of backup camera systems by adapting to rapidly changing lighting conditions. ACA can automatically increase or decrease the brightness / contrast of the image to improve visibility and security. In addition, vehicle backup cameras usually use differential twisted pair cables, requiring designers to use operational amplifiers (op amps) in front of the video decoder to convert differential signals to single-ended. The TW9992 decoder eliminates the need for external op amps by supporting direct differential CVBS inputs, thereby reducing system cost and board space. The company said that the built-in battery short-circuit and ground short-circuit detection functions on each differential input channel further improve video performance and automotive system reliability. Philip Chesley, senior vice president of Intersil Precision Products, said: "This is the latest product of the Intersil video decoder series because they use the next generation SoC to meet the future needs of customers." "The first-class TW9992 has better image quality and more Low power consumption and advanced features improve reliability and simplify design, making it ideal for backup camera design. "The automotive-grade TW9992 analog video decoder is available in a 32-pin wettable QFN package. Evaluation boards are also available.
