MikroElektronika has released a compact add-on board for iot applications such as smart metering, security and asset tracking, smart wearables, home appliances, environmental monitoring and more. Name NB IoT 4 Click. The new "Click" board incorporates a cellular wireless communication module and an integrated digital SIM (eSIM) to provide global data connectivity even in areas without the latest communication infrastructure.

The board offers Cavli Wireless c1-RM. The three-band narrowband iot /2G wireless communication module supports bands 3, 5 and 8 and is mainly targeted at low-power data transmission applications. Due to its ultra-small size, the module also supports the 3GPP Release 13 standard, which satisfies almost all M2M requirements. The standby power consumption of the device is less than 1mA and can be as low as 5µ A in deep sleep mode. Provides external interfaces, protocol stacks, and SMS and data transmission services to meet client requirements.

Nebojsa Matic, CEO of MIKROE, commented: "This module is designed specifically for countries with less than 100% NB-iot coverage, making it possible to deploy LPWAN using 2G and then switch to NB-iot when the network is ready. Integrated eSIM capabilities ensure that the module can be deployed globally."

The clickboard is intended as a fully tested product ready for use on systems equipped with mikroBUS sockets. The solution is supported by a MikroSDK-compliant library that includes functions to simplify software development.

Almost every day at 10 a.m., the company releases a new clickboard. Many leading microcontroller companies include mikroBUS sockets on their development boards. These include Infineon, NXP, Microchip, Dialog, STM, Analog Devices Renesas and Toshiba.
