Abaco Systems has released the PMC523 16-port serial controller and SPR518 PCI Express XMC loadcard. The equipment produced necessary and beneficial technological updates, which continued the company's continued commitment to innovation at every turn. And both offer innovative ways to upgrade to protect their customers from obsolescence.

PMC523 is a flexible solution and technology plug that integrates multiple serial I/O channels into an SBC with a PMC site. Its efficient design encapsulates 16 serial channels onto a single PMC. In addition, the serial controller uses double octal UARTs to improve overall performance by reducing programmatic I/O operations. This provides a path forward for enhanced software and ultimately protects customers who are already using the previous generation PMC423 design system.

SPR518 provides customers with an upgrade path by providing an alternative to the existing SPR418A. The card is the PCIe carrier of the XMC module and can be used with traditional PCS. PCIe ports Provide the full rate of unimpeded data transfer supported by the mezz cards and are improved by using the PCIe Gen3 Redriver. This improvement provides safe operation of XMC modules on PCIe motherboards, whereas previously, SP418A could only support Gen2.

"Abaco's commitment to our customers extends beyond the life cycle of our products, and innovation does not stop after a product hits the market. Our team listens to our customers, develops solutions that go beyond existing products, and provides an upgrade path to avoid obsolescence in the long run. Both the PMC523 and SPR518 demonstrate this commitment as they both offer clear upgrade paths and solutions that will enable our customers to succeed."Peter Thompson, Vice president of Product management at Abaco, said
