Electric appliances using battery power are one of the fastest growing market segments in the industry. Such applications require energy -saving, stable and cost -effective battery charging solutions. In order to meet this demand, Infineon launched the ICC80QSG single-level pulse width modulation (PWM) controller suitable for anti-gratifying topology structure, which further expanded the product lineup of Infineon AC-DC controller IC IC. Essence This IC is tailor -made for battery charging, and is used in conjunction with the COOLMOS  P7 super knot (SJ) MOSFET to achieve a scalable power design with an output power of up to 130 W. This product is also applicable to applications such as adapters, printers, personal computers, television, display, set -top boxes, audio amplifiers and other applications.

The ICC80QSG battery charging IC supports quasi-resonant mode multi-trough switching (QRMn). In addition to quasi-resonant mode (QRM), it also prevents entry into continuous conduction mode (CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), which implements trough switching under medium and light loads. The ICC80QSG is integrated with CoolMOS™ P7 MOSFET devices to improve energy efficiency and reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI). The flyback design also saves BOM costs because it requires fewer heat sinks and coils. In addition, the integrated burst mode for light load conditions helps to achieve very low power consumption in standby mode. The ICC80QSG can reduce the output voltage of the gate driver chip in burst mode, which can meet the requirements of very low standby loss under light or no load conditions, so as to exert excellent standby performance in the whole operating range.

The ICC80QSG adopts SSR control mode, which is the ideal solution for current-controlled battery charging. For greater design flexibility, it provides an adjustable ON-time reference table corresponding to the trough switch position at a given maximum operating frequency, and an adjustable maximum ON-time to limit the input power and current so that it can be safely operated under low-voltage line conditions. The IC provides protection for primary MOSFETs with external adjustable hysteresis backvoltage protection and undervoltage protection. So that it will not overheat under input undervoltage conditions even if fewer radiators are used. With a full range of protection features, the ICC80QSG enables a simple, safe and powerful AC-DC battery charger design for many applications.
