IHDM side wound inductors provide stable inductance and saturation

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2022-08-21, Vishay Dale

Vishay Intertechnology has released two new IHDM side-wound through-hole inductors, size 1107, offering powdered iron alloy core technology, Vishay Custom Magnetics IHDM-1107BBEV-20 and IHDM-1107BBEV-30 for demanding duty at -55C to +180C Offers stable inductance and saturation over temperature with low power loss and superior heat dissipation. For commercial applications, soft saturation current up to 422 A.

Soft saturation of an inductor provides a predictable drop in inductance with increasing current, independent of temperature. Edge-wound coils provide DCR as low as 0.25mOhm, minimizing losses and improving current rating performance for improved efficiency. Compared to other ferrite solutions, the device has 30% higher current ratings, 30% higher soft saturation current levels, and is stable over a continuous operating temperature of +180C.

Standard terminations for this device are stripped and tinned through-hole mounting. The company can customize device performance, including inductance, DCR, current rating, and voltage rating, upon request. Customizable mounting options include bare copper, surface mount, and press fit. The inductors are provided with hot dip tin plating to reduce the risk of whisker growth. Equipment is rohs compliant, halogen free, Vishay Green.

Operating voltages up to 350V, the device is ideal for DC-DC converters, inverters, differential mode chokes, filters, for motor and switching noise suppression in high current, high temperature applications including medical, industrial and defense system. Inductors offer two choices of core materials to optimize performance, depending on the desired application.
