The MP2660 is a highly integrated single lithium-ion/lithium polymer battery charger IC with integrated system power path management function, which is suitable for small portable devices. It can use AC adapter or USB interface to power the system load, and it can also charge the battery independently. The charger IC has functions of trickle current charging, constant current charging (CC), constant voltage charging (CV) regulation, charging cut-off and automatic recovery charging. Power path management ensures continuous power supply to the system by automatically selecting inputs, batteries, or both. This power stage has a low dropout regulator from the input to the system and a 100m Ω switch from the battery to the system.The MP2660 is packaged with a 9-pin WLCSP (1.55mmx1.55mm).

The power path management manages the charging current and the system load current separately, so that the battery can be charged normally and always be in the full charging mode. The MP2660 provides short circuit protection (SCP) by limiting the amount of input and battery current flowing into the system. This feature can effectively prevent the lithium ion battery from being damaged due to excessive current. If the battery voltage drops below the programmable battery undervoltage lockout (UVLO) threshold, the integrated battery undervoltage lockout (UVLO) function will cut off the path between the battery and the system, thus preventing excessive discharge of the lithium-ion battery. The integrated I2C control interface allows MP2660 to program charging parameters, such as input current limit, input voltage regulation limit, charging current, battery regulation voltage, safety timer and battery undervoltage lockout (UVLO).
