Fully functional, universal, four-way 12-bit voltage output digital-to-analog converter

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2023-03-11

The DAC124S085 device is a full-featured, universal, four-channel 12-bit voltage output digital-to-analog converter (DAC), which can work from a single 2.7 V to 5.5 V power supply, consuming 1.1 mW at 3v and 2.4 mW at 5v. It is packaged with 10-pin WSON and vsop. The 10-pin SON package makes the DAC124S085 the smallest four-core DAC in its class.

Pin Configuration

The on-chip output amplifier allows the rail-to-rail output to swing, and the three-wire serial interface operates at a clock rate of up to 40 MHz within the entire power supply voltage range. Competitor's equipment is limited to a clock frequency of 25 mhz in the power supply voltage range of 2.7 v to 3.6 v. The serial interface is compatible with standard SPI, QSPI, MICROWIRE and DSP interfaces.

The reference of DAC124S085 can serve all four channels. The voltage can vary between 1v and VA, providing the widest output dynamic range, and has a 16-bit input shift register, which controls the output to be updated, operation mode, power-off condition and binary input data. All four outputs can be updated at the same time or separately according to the setting of the two operation bit modes.

Functional Block Diagram

The power-on reset circuit ensures that the DAC output reaches zero volts and remains there until an effective write device is available. The power off feature reduces power consumption to less than one microwatt with three different termination options. The DAC124S085's low power consumption and small packaging make it the best choice for battery-powered devices. It is also a member of the pin-compatible dac family, which includes the 8-bit DAC084S085 and the 10-bit DAC104S085. The DAC124S085 operates at −40°C to 105°C.
