Dual output DC-DC and linear stabilized IC

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2023-01-04, NXP

The 34710 is a dual output voltage regulator IC that integrates switching voltage regulators, linear voltage regulators, monitoring and power sequencing circuits. The 34710 has a working input voltage range of 13 to 32V and is suitable for many commercial and industrial applications using embedded MCUS.

Simplified Application Diagram

Mode selection 5.0 or 3.3V DC-DC switching regulators provide board level I/O and user circuits up to 700mA. Linear regulators offer core supply voltages of 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8V or 1.5V in a choice of modes, with current up to 500mA. The monitor circuit ensures that the voltage regulator output follows the predetermined power-on and power-off sequence.

The MC34710 provides both a step-down converter and an LDO regulator in one integrated circuit. L1 is the inductance of the step-down converter. The step-down inductor is a key component that must not only provide the required reactance, but must do so at a DC resistance of less than 20 milliohm in order to maintain the converter's efficiency. Also important for converter efficiency is that D1 uses a low VF Schottky diode.
