The TomTom GO Discover is considered one of the fastest and most powerful satellite navigation systems on the market today. The satellite navigation has 5 ", 6 "and 7" displays and utilizes infineon's AIROC CYW43455 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combination chip. Infineon's AIROC family integrates a wide range of wireless solutions for reliable, high-performance connectivity. The wireless solution integrates wi-Fi-5 (802.11AC) and Bluetooth 5.0 on a single chip, providing the fast and robust wireless connectivity essential for navigation devices.
TomTom GO Discover claims to download map updates three times faster than other navigation devices and uses an integrated 5GHz Wi-Fi band. In addition, the device can also connect to a smartphone through an integrated Bluetooth interface, making real-time traffic information and the company's premium on-site service readily available.
Mike Schoofs, General manager of TomTom Consumer said: "The new TomTom GO Discover is designed to make every trip more enjoyable with safety in mind," "With Infineon's AIROC wireless connectivity solution, we have successfully installed a powerful and fast wireless interface for satellite navigation, enabling the device's traffic and mapping information to be updated regularly. The chip allows us to combine our deep understanding of driver requirements with the latest and greatest technology."
Sivaram Trikutam, Infineon's Senior director of iot Computing and Wireless, said: "Our AIROC wireless connectivity portfolio of low-power products employs advanced design and processing technologies to reduce power consumption in both operational and sleep modes. "In addition, the 1X1 chip integrates advanced hardware processes and algorithms that optimize WLAN and Bluetooth collaboration for maximum performance. The chip is therefore ideal for mobile navigation devices that require reliable wireless interfaces to provide drivers with the latest traffic conditions and other relevant information."
