Rohde & Schwarz R&S ATS1800C is an innovative technology pioneer in OTA testing. The test chamber offers gold-plated CATR reflectors for the construction of a large quiet zone (QZ), or usable measurement area, in an unmatched compact form factor. With the addition of the new side chamber option, the device now also supports RRM testing for two AOAs. The device is a highly flexible solution that supports methods such as thermal testing and out-of-band testing.

In contrast to the single CATR R&S ATS1800C, the ATS1800M offers four CATR reflectors, each with an unmatched 30cm QZ. Since all four QZ's overlap, forming a 30cm combination QZ at their intersection, the device under test (DUT) is surrounded by a large QZ from all directions. This setup enables DUT to check when exposed to simultaneous incoming signals from different angles -- just like in a real network.

Larger QZ results in significantly lower measurement uncertainty compared to competing solutions. DUT can also be tested without knowing the antenna position (" black box testing "), making it an excellent solution for service providers.

The ATS1800M needs only three additional mirrors to meet this requirement. Side cavity extensions can be retrofitted to existing ATS1800C units and reversible. RRM testing seeks to use limited RF resources as efficiently as possible and avoid co-channel interference. The 3GPP specification for RRM testing defines five pairs of angles with relative Angle differences of 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 degrees between base station signals.
