C&K Introduces SDS Ultra Low Current Series Switches

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2022-08-02, C&K

C&K, a leading manufacturer of high-quality electromechanical switches, introduces the SDS series of ULC (Ultra Low Current) sense switches. This switch was developed to reduce energy consumption in battery-operated equipment. With more and more devices relying on battery power, how to minimize energy consumption and extend battery life has become a topic that designers must consider.

SDS series ULC switches are available in a variety of contact types: normally open, normally closed, silver plated and gold plated for enhanced corrosion resistance. This family of switches supports ultra-low current (10µA) applications in medical and IoT devices, smart metering, smoke detectors, and networking.Tests have proven that the SDS Series ULC switches can reduce battery power consumption in applications such as medical and IoT devices. This switch has low power consumption and a thin profile, making it especially suitable for handheld devices.

C&K's SDS Series ULC switches feature an overtravel plunger handle with a 2mm overtravel distance. Cedric Garropin, Product Manager at C&K, explains: "As battery-powered devices are increasingly available, we have developed ultra-low current switches to meet market needs. Compared to other switches, this switch requires lower current to operate and therefore consumes less power to operate. less."

All products in the SDS detection switch series feature the SPST design with a switch life of 50,000 cycles, an operating force of 75gf, and right-angle terminals. These switches have a 2mm ultra-thin PCB mount construction, ideal for designs with limited PCB space.
