Bourns expands office and electrification laboratory in Cork, Ireland

A leading manufacturer of electronic components for power, protection and sensing solutions, Bourns has added a large office and a new electrification laboratory in Cork, Ireland, to meet the growing demand for advanced power electronics and sensing solutions. To strengthen the existing team of experts, Bourns will create 35 new jobs over the next 18 months to fill applications engineering, development engineering, project management and marketing management positions.

          

"We have sensed a sharp rise in demand, particularly in areas requiring more efficient electronic components such as electric vehicles, solar panels, etc. Now is the right time to expand our team in Cork to meet the growing demand for our products and technical services," said John Kelly, President of the Power Products Group at Bourns. "The Bourns New Electrification Lab is an important new resource for testing and developing these basic components, which can assist manufacturers in reducing charging times for electric vehicles and other battery-based applications, thereby expanding their range of applications," he further noted.
