Boreas BOS1921 Meets Demand for High-Performance Low-Cost Haptic Functions in Ultra-thin PC Trackpads

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2022-09-30, Bourns Inc.

Boreas Technologies introduces BOS1921, a miniature piezo driver product that provides autonomous operation and sensing for piezo haptic touchpads with a single chip, unlike other piezo drivers that require dedicated force-sensing electronics for PC OEMs Bring savings. Compared to Boreas first-generation piezo haptic driver, the BOS1901, the more advanced BOS1921 reduces bill of materials (BOM) costs by up to two times, reduces the thickness of piezo haptic touchpads, improves responsiveness, and provides 15 more times the sensing resolution.

Simon Chaput, founder and CEO of Boreas Technologies, said: “Piezo haptic touchpads have become an important differentiator for PC OEMs in a highly competitive and razor-thin market. Electric touchpads are thinner and lighter, enabling a crisper haptic experience; Piezo haptic touchpads are increasingly used in laptop and notebook computer designs. Including the BOS1921, our piezo haptic driver products are Leading industry change.”
