ADI's MAX25239 and MAX25240 are small synchronous buck boost converters with integrated h-bridge switches. These integrated circuits provide fixed output regulated voltage and external adjustable output voltage, ranging from 3v to 20v, with input voltage higher, lower or equal to output regulated voltage. The IC has typical 8.2 A and 10 A input current limiting options, which can support up to 6 A of continuous load current, depending on the input/output voltage ratio and operating frequency, and the input voltage range is 2v to 36v.

The MAX25239 and MAX25240 have three switching frequency options: 2.1 MHz, 400 kHz, and 200 kHz. 2.1 MHz high switching frequency allows small external components and reduces output ripple, and ensures no AM band interference; The switching frequency of 400 kHz and 200 kHz provides better efficiency and alleviates the power consumption problem. SYNC input allows three operation modes: ultra-low quiescent current skip mode, forced fixed frequency PWM operation, and synchronization with external clock. The integrated circuit also includes spread spectrum frequency modulation to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI).

The MAX25239 and MAX25240 have a power ok (POK) indicator, undervoltage lockout, overvoltage protection, periodic current limitation, and thermal shutdown. 4.25 mm for integrated circuits ×  4.25 mm  ×  0.75 mm 22 pin FC2QFN package. The MAX25240 Evaluation Kit (MAX25240EVKIT #) is a fully assembled and tested application circuit that simplifies the evaluation of the MAX25240 400 kHz, 36 V buck boost converter. All installed components are suitable for the vehicle temperature range. Various test points and jumpers include evaluation.

The standard EV kit comes with a MAX25240AFF/VY+installation (11.5 V, 400 kHz), which can also be used to evaluate other MAX25240 variants and the smallest component changes shown in the bill of materials (BOM) of the MAX25240 EV kit.
