ADI has introduced the LT8650S, LT8652S and LT8653S dual-channel 4A/8.5A/2A synchronous step-down silent switching converters for automotive, communications and solid-state drive power supplies. The proprietary Silent Switcher 2 architecture and spread spectrum frequency modulation together provide robustness of the PCB layout, provide ultra-low EMI performance, and easily meet CISPR25 radiation.

These devices also have a stackable friendly output that can be used for higher current applications. The outputs can be connected in parallel according to system requirements to scale up or down the output current while optimizing thermal performance. This also helps reduce the inventory and qualification time of individual equipment. For example, the LT8652S simultaneously generates 8.5A DC from each channel or up to 12A on any channel. Synchronizing two of these chips can produce a four-phase 34A power supply.
