ADI's ADF5355 can be used with an external loop filter and external reference frequency to implement a fractional-N or integer-N phase-locked loop (PLL) frequency synthesizer. The device's broadband microwave VCO design allows operation at a radio frequency (RF) output in the frequency range of 6.8GHz to 13.6GHz. A series of frequency dividers at another frequency output allows operation in the frequency range of 54MHz to 6800MHz. The ADF5355 has an integrated VCO with a basic output frequency range of 3400MHz to 6800MHz. In addition, the VCO frequency is connected as a 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, or 64 divider circuit, allowing users to generate RF output frequencies as low as 54 MHz. For applications that require isolation, the RF output stage can be muted. The mute function can be controlled by pins and software. All on-chip registers are controlled via a simple 3-wire interface. The ADF5355 uses analog and digital power supplies from 3.15V to 3.45V. The power supply voltage range of the charge pump and VCO is 4.75V to 5.25V. The ADF5355 also contains hardware and software power-down modes.
