ADI has announced the launch of the Power by Linear LTM4653, 58VIN step-down µModule regulator. In noisy environments such as industrial robots, factory automation, communications infrastructure, and avionics systems, the new equipment can be safely operated with unregulated or fluctuating 24V to 48V input power. The device integrates input and output filters in a single package, making the device compliant with EN55022 Class B EMC standards for IT equipment. The low EMI architecture makes it ideal for signal processing applications, including test and measurement, imaging and RF systems. This device has the same architecture as the LTM4651, 58VIN, 4A inverting µModule regulator, so the combination of LTM4651 and LTM4653 is ideal for generating a pair of positive and negative voltages in the system. The output voltage can be adjusted with a resistor from 0.5V to 94% of VIN. This wide output voltage range provides the versatility to generate universal system bus voltages of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, and 24V using one product. Peak efficiency from 24VIN to 5VOUT is 92%. This device can deliver 4A output current up to 70A from 48VIN to 5VOUT without the need for heat sinks or airflow. Multiple devices can be connected in parallel for higher current applications. The switching frequency can be adjusted by a single external resistor or can be synchronized with an external clock from 250kHz to 3MHz. The device is available in a 15mm x 9mm x 5.01mm BGA package and includes a switching regulator controller, power switch, inductor, and other supporting components. Only large input and output filter capacitors are required to complete the design.
