Analog Devices - Back-up power manager can support two supercapacitors (LTC4041)

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2018-11-13, Linear Technology
Analog Devices' LTC4041 uses an on-chip bidirectional synchronous converter to provide efficient step-down supercapacitor charging. There are also high-current, high-efficiency boost backup power supplies. When external power is available, the device can operate as a step-down battery charger for one or two supercapacitor batteries, giving priority to system load. When the input power drops below an adjustable PFI threshold, the device switches to boost regulator operation, which can deliver up to 2.5A from the supercapacitor to the system load. During a power failure event, its PowerPath control provides reverse blocking and seamlessly switches from input power to backup power. Typical applications for this device include: the so-called "dying panting" traversal power supply, 3V to 5V UPS high current traversal power supply, electricity meters, industrial alarms, servers and SSDs. The device is packaged in a flat (0.75mm) 24-lead 4mm x 5mm QFN package with a back metal pad for excellent heat dissipation. This device has a temperature range of -40C to + 125C over E and I.
