3V DallastatTM Electronic Digital rheostat

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2023-01-03, Maxim Integrated

The DS1869 DallastatTM is a digital rheostat or potentiometer operating at -40°C to +85°C. The device provides 64 possible uniform pumping points throughout the resistance range. Standard resistance ranges are 10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, and 100 kΩ. Dallastat can be controlled by a switch contact closure input or a digital source input such as a CPU.

The DS1869 runs from a 3V or 5V power supply. Wiper position is maintained without power by using an EEPROM storage unit array. The EEPROM cell array can withstand more than 50,000 writes. The DS1869 comes in two standard IC packages, which include an 8-pin 300mil DIP and an 8-pin 208mil SOIC. The DS1869 can be configured to operate through different power-on conditions using single button, double button, or digital power inputs. Figure 1 and Figure 2 illustrate this point.

The DS1869 pins allow access to both ends of the potentiometer RL, RH, and wiper RW. The control inputs include the digital source input D, the up contact input UC, and the down contact input DC. Other pins include positive, +V, and negative, -V power inputs.
