10-bit digital temperature sensor (AD7416) and 4 channel /1 channel adc

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2023-02-12, Analog Devices Inc.

The AD7417 and AD7418 are 10-bit, 4-channel and single-channel ADCs with on-chip temperature sensors that operate on a single 2.7V to 5.5V power supply. The device contains a 15 μs successive approximation converter, a 5-channel multiplexer, a temperature sensor, a clock oscillator, a track hold and a reference (2.5V).

The AD7416 is a temperature monitoring device in an 8-lead package. The temperature sensor on the component can be accessed via multiplexer 0 channel. When channel 0 is selected and the conversion begins, the ADC code generated at the end of the conversion gives a measurement of the ambient temperature (±1°C at 25°C). The on-chip register can be programmed for high and low temperature limits, and provides an open and open overtemperature indicator (OTI) output that activates when the programming limits are exceeded.

The configuration register allows programming the meaning of the OTI output (active high level or active low level) and its mode of operation (comparator or interrupt). Programmable fault queue counters allow you to set the number of measurements that must occur outside the limit before triggering the OTI output to prevent triggering the OTI output in a noisy environment.
